Hi Chakra users,

With your next system upgrade you will receive upgrades to many packages in our core repository. This time we chose to prepare some overlapping package groups together to avoid issues with broken dependencies. These include upgrades for the linux, graphics, sound and qt5 groups.

It’s worth knowing that as of now:

  • elisa 0.1.1 a brand new music player by KDE is shipped in our official repositories.
  • nvidia-390xx is split from the main driver, as nvidia decided to drop support for older GeForce 400/500 “Fermi” GPUs. Please switch to this driver if your system has one of these graphics cards and you are using nvidia’s proprietary driver.
  • cups 2.2.6-2 includes the internalization patch, as suggested by KDE developers.

Hello!

Thanks a lot for the update!

I think there is a small dependencies problem for the nvidia driver. I’ve got an Nvidia 970M, so should be quite recent and not concern by the split mention on the topic.

When it try to check the dependencies for the “nvidia-utils” I got the error:

nvidia-settings: the installation of nvidia-utils (396.24-1) stops the dependence ‘nvidia-utils=390.48’

(sorry for the poor translation)

I have updated my system and now it takes a lot more time to boot up.

I am im Mozambique since yesterday and I brought my Chakra PC with me. I updated yesterday and I haven’t had time to test other things. But the boot up time has gone considerably worse. There are messages that I couldn’t quite catch yet about errors.

  1. krunner is crashed as you can see perhaps the next upgrade solves this problem
  2. i would disable ntpd
  3. do you use a hybrid graphic? if not you can remove acpi_call

It used to boot up way under 1 minute; then, after upgrade, it was taking about 3 minutes to boot up.

After disabling ntpd and uninstalling acpi_call it is taking slightly less than 2 minutes.

Well, after upgrading, on my first boot I got a notification about krunner crash.

the reason for this delay isn’t systemd associated it seems.
check dmesg:

dmesg -d

do you use autolgin? if disable it so you can see if the delay system or desktop related because the desktop starts with login.

Same issue for me.
I also have a nvidia card (Quardo FX3800).
After booting there are two text lines flashing on the screen.
No further action ist possible.

I disabled autologin and tested it. It takes about 30s less to reach the login screen, when autologin is disabled.

The systems hangs a bit on loading Login and NetworkManager.
