Hi all,

For a long time and differents releases of Firefox i’m not able to use it. I try different things (remove and reinstall, delete all config files…) but after i have always a Mozilla crash report:

We're Sorry
Firefox had a problem and crashed. We’ll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts.

Console output:

$ firefox
ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal...
ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 4124
ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child

What can I do? I really like to use Firefox again.

Hi @svink,
I guess you’re using pacman to install firefox, am I right?
What version is installed on your system right now?

Hi @FranzMari

Yes, I use pacman and same result with octopi

pacman -Qi firefox
Nom                      : firefox
Version                  : 74.0.1-1
  1. i would add firefox to the NoUpgrade = array in /etc/pacman.conf and wait for a working release.

  2. or you try palemoon

  1. Yes, but I can’t remember witch release of Firefox works for me, maybe a old one like 70…

  2. You’re right! I forget palemoon, I used it in the past and it’s a good option.

Thanks @brikler

That would be important to know, so we can understand if some changes in the sources or in the package made it incompatible with your system.

You could try the ESR release of Firefox and see if that works.

It’s work fine. I think it’s the switching to version 70 and later that cause problems. Maybe it’s a hardware or drivers issue… i have an old laptop. It’s complicate to try all over releases, i’m going to see if i find something on the web.

Thank you.
